Psuedo static stability analysis of rock slope using patton’s shear criterion

Abstract A deterministic model for the factor of safety an idealized rock mass planar mode failure is developed adopting Limit Equilibrium Method (LEM) using Patton’s shear strength criterion and considering practically occurring conditions such as effect tension crack, water filled up in horizontal vertical seismic acceleration, bolt stabilizing force surcharge. In Pseudo-static analysis acceleration taken outward from slope considered both direction i.e. towards gravity (downward) opposite to (upward). An expression normal stresses limiting has been derived order compare field along surface. detailed parametric study presented investigate influence coefficient on stability expression. For high stress plane, it observed that decreases with increase value increases linearly against trend found lower stress. The predominant rate increase/decrease more gravity. Hence determining critical safety, should be considered.
